👙 If you're struggling with food this summer, READ THIS

TL;DR: You don't need to earn the ice cream, eating the ice cream won't completely change your appearance, and your appearance is not what defines you.

For years, I ate ice cream every single night before bed.

And this wasn't because I was “out of control” around food, nor because I was obsessed with sweets. I wasn't.

It was simply a ritual I loved. It was one of my favourite moments of the day. A little bit of comfort and me-time.

When I became more aware of “the dangers of sugar and snacking” (oh dear) and started noticing “my changing teenage body” (oh DEAR), that ice cream ritual was one of the first things to go.

And sure, I managed that alright. But I'd cut out one of the few precious me-time moments in my day and where did that get me?

To an eating disorder. That's where.

If there are foods you’ve stopped eating because you feel guilty…
If there are activities you’ve stopped doing because you don’t feel comfortable in your body…
If you’re spending your summer trying to “fix” yourself before you allow yourself to live…

I want you to remember that you don’t have to wait.

You are allowed to enjoy food. You are allowed to take up space. You are allowed to swim, wear the clothes you love, eat the ice cream, and be part of life, right now.

Food isn’t something you need to earn.

Your body is the least interesting thing about you.

And if you need a little extra reminder of that truth… I’ve got something exciting to share!

🎙️ My brand new podcast, The Recovery Messages, is launching July 4th! TODAY!! 🤩

This podcast is for anyone navigating the messy middle of recovery. The fear foods, the weight gain anxiety, the body checking, the post-meal guilt, the relapse thoughts, and everything in between.

Each episode is designed to help you reconnect with recovery, challenge the eating disorder voice, and build lasting freedom around food and your body.

And the best part? It’s completely free, with new episodes dropping fortnightly.

After years navigating my own recovery, many more years now working with others through theirs, and after years and years of dreaming about a little poddie setup... I created this resource because I know how powerful it can be to have a voice reminding you of the things the eating disorder tries to make you forget. At precisely those moments when it feels loudest.

Inside the podcast, you’ll find episodes on topics like:
    • Fear foods, and how to stop letting them control your life
    • Weight gain, and how to build identity beyond the ED
    • Urges, and how to navigate them  Recovery! And how to make this your reality

Search “The Recovery Messages” on your favourite podcast platform and subscribe so you’re notified when new episodes go live. Feedback and topic suggestions always welcome!

I hope this becomes a resource you come back to whenever the eating disorder gets loud. And more than anything, I hope you go into this summer remembering that you deserve a life that is so much much bigger than food rules and body worries!
